Finally, after this long, hot summer, a weather front arrived and the Mistral wind returned. We didn't think twice about it: we headed to Sardinia to get back to some proper waveriding on the North Shore, enjoying a fantastic day of windsurfing at the Cala Pischina spot.
Windsurfing report: Cala Pischina, Sardinia, 11/10/2026. The return of the Mistral
I set off by ferry from Livorno on Wednesday evening and disembarked on the "island of wonders" the following morning. To my surprise, I discovered I wasn't the only one there. The still-mild temperatures (and, for some, the wind forecast) had drawn many foreigners—and a few Italians—to come and enjoy the unique scenery and atmosphere of this incredible island.
Is it worth making a trip to Sardinia for just four days? Absolutely. It is a land that offers unique sensations and, in the off-season, peace and relaxation. Plus, there are countless activities to enjoy every day. I went trekking (the paths to Cala Li Cossi and Cala Tinnari were stunning, as was the one to Monti Ruju top), surfing (a fantastic session at Marinedda), and windsurfing at Rena Majore and Cala Pischina. It really helped clear my head... after the tough uphill restart that followed my summer holidays. But let’s start from the end — specifically, from the Sunday session at Pischina.
