Mauritius is one of the world's most iconic windsurfing destinations. Alberto Greco, who has been there five times, provides a detailed guide to the waveriding spots, which are not trivial, and other useful logistical tips..

Windsurfing, spots review: Mauritius, waveriding paradise (by A. Greco)

Best period: from June to October (when SE trades winds blow).

SPOTS: I'll give you my personal opinion and direct experience gained on several occasions as an average waverider (I've been to various places like South Africa, Morocco, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Mauritius, Oman, Capo Mannu, Chia, Carro, etc. etc., but I'm still missing something to hit that lip properly!). I'll go in no particular order (if you see the spot map below, you'll understand the descriptions better).

Consider that it's winter, so the sun sets at 6 pm (beautifully, behind the sea or in the La Gaulette lagoon, depending on where you go, providing truly unique post-session beer time experiences). We even saw whales jumping in and out of the water once, behind One Eye, while I rewarded myself with a well-deserved post-session beer on the beach at sunset. Beautiful.

After writing this description, I was filled with an overwhelming desire to leave for Le Morne.

Bye, Alberto.
