Playa de Razo, near A Coruña in Galicia, Spain, was a truly wonderful discovery, not only as a surfing spot, but also for its stunning scenery and nearly perfect logistics. The nearby Malpica spot is also worth considering.
Surfing: Praia de Razo, and Malpica, Galicia, Spain
On my last trip to Northern Spain, in the summer of 2025, I tried Praia de Razo with a very respectable swell. The place truly fascinated me, thanks also to the beautiful sunny day that, after my arrival, gradually illuminated the scene, from mid-afternoon until sunset. The quality of the waves and the beauty of the beach did the rest.

Before closing the article, I'd like to point out that a 15-20 minute drive further west is Malpica Bay, which is smaller and more sheltered. However, with strong swell and half tide, we've seen some wonderful smooth barrels, with excellent period. The parking lot (see our map above) is located right above the beach and offers limited spaces. The surrounding setting isn't as beautiful as Razo Beach (you're in the center of the small town, surrounded by palaces), but Malpica's waves are worth surfing..
Enjoy. Fabio
