When I am among the mountains, I'm happy; especially if I get to go on an extraordinary hike in a wonderful valley like Val da Camp, in Switzerland, just above Poschiavo, to reach the Saoseo Hut and Lagh da Saoseo.
Trekking: Saoseo Lake and Saoseo Refuge, Val da Camp, Poschiavo, Switzerland
Val da Camp (Val di Campo) is a hidden gem in the Alps, near the Bernina Pass. It's a rarely visited valley, seemingly a place out of time, especially in a period of international tensions like the one we're currently experiencing.
It is a peaceful place. The pastures and mountain buildings are well managed by a handful of valley dwellers who continue centuries-old agricultural and pastoral practices, albeit with different techniques. The larch and spruce forests surrounding the pastures are still wide, they smell so good, and dominate the landscape at intermediate altitudes between the lower valley and the higher pastures and mountain peaks. The mountains cap the head of the valley with a jagged ridge, beyond which, through the Val Viola pass, you enter Italy, in the equally attractive Val Viola.
Behind, to the west, the gaze is drawn to the glaciers descending from Piz Zupò, Piz Palù, and Piz Cambrena. Completing the idyllic scene are the Saoseo Hut and Lake Saoseo (which is not the only high-altitude lake in the area). I don't even know whether to over-hype the beauty of this valley, not to spoil its unique tranquility.
The route we took is simple, only moderately tiring, and suitable for families with children. But it's also suitable for anyone who, like me, goes to the mountains also to immerse themselves in their wonderful nature, not just to seek extreme adventures that allow us to forget the frustrations and banality of everyday life, approaching the mountains as if they were just a huge playground....

All in all, it was a wonderful day in the mountains.
This time going down to the town was really hard.
Enjoy your walk. Fabio
