Finally, I had the chance to try the cross-country ski area of Passo Coe, Folgaria, Trentino. And it was another wonderful discovery. Beautiful, well-maintained trails and excellent logistics.
Passo Coe, Folgaria: an excellent cross-country skiing area
I'd been thinking about trying this famous cross-country ski area for some time, having seen some very evocative images.
The area is fairly easy to reach by exiting the Autobrennero (A22) motorway at Rovereto Nord and taking the SS350 and then the SP143. Except for a few short stretches, the road isn't narrow or difficult. It's comfortable, well-maintained, and even passable with a camper or van. From Milan, it took me about 2.5 hours to reach the pass. On my skiing day (February 17, 2026), snow conditions were good (over 50 cm of snow). As we climbed the road, the snow cover increased rapidly, and surprisingly, after Folgaria.
The air temperature was around 2 degrees in the early afternoon (perfect for skiing, without sweating too much or getting cold).
Near the pass, there are several convenient and large parking lots, along the road, with a very reasonable price of just 2 euros per day. The town is also home to the "Alpe Cimbra" alpine ski area.

Due to insufficient waxing (after my last short run, I tried not to wax again, but I was wrong), which made my skis slow towards the end, and my less-than-perfect training, I struggled a bit to get back up to speed. Always wax!
But it was worth the effort, to fully appreciate the potential of a ski area that impressed me favorably, and which I highly recommend.
Ciao. Fabio
