Splugen, in Grisons, Switzerland, is a locality at 1475 meters above sea level, located just north of the tunnel (or pass) of San Bernardino. It offers almost 40 km of cross-country ski trails, which we decided to go and try last Saturday.
The cross-country ski trail that runs from Livigno in the direction of the Forcola pass and arrives at Alpe Vago is truly a pearl. In particular, the stretch of track around Alpe Vago is technically very varied and fun, and allows you to ski in an almost intact natural setting, where a blanket of snow, almost always generous, covers the meadows and mountains around, and where a silence almost total helps you immerse yourself in a fairy-tale natural environment.
If you want to give yourself a relaxing day of cross-country skiing, try the tracks of the famous Val Ferret, in Val d'Aosta. The tracks, within everyone's reach, develop under the gaze of the spectacular peaks and pinnacles of the Mont Blanc group, in a valley with enchanting panoramas.
